During the 19th century the discoveries of ancient archaeological finds influenced and brought on what is referred to as archaeological revival jewelry. The initial Egyptian Revival period flourished from the 1820's and was inspired by ancient Egyptian imagery such as the scarab beetle.
This unique beetle pendant/charm is particularly lovely and from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! The wonderful piece, which is crafted in 14k yellow gold, features a fantastic real scarab beetle. The scarab, which was once alive, was incorporated into this artistic design and has survived the test of time.It has phenomenal coloring, with iridescent hues of intense green, brown, gold and black. The beetle is backed with gold, and the piece features a complementary gold pail, perfect for attaching the piece to a favorite chain or charm bracelet. Measurements:The pendant/charm measures 1 3/4" tall (including the bail) and has a width of 1/2".
Condition:The overall condition of the pendant/charm is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the beetle or gold details. The complementary bail is secure and intact.
